Installation of a gantry crane for Maris South Canal hydroelectric power plant in Isabela, the Philippines
May 2017 MHE-Demag has been contracted to provide a host of material handling solutions to facilitate the operations of the new 8.5-megawatt Maris South Canal hydroelectric power plant in Isabela, the Philippines.
MHE-Demag was initially approached by McConnel Dowell, an experienced contractor in the construction of hydroelectric power plants, to supply a 25/5-tonne, double girder, full gantry crane and five-tonne single girder overhead crane.
McConnel Dowell was so impressed with MHE-Demag’s professionalism that it brought the team to the attention of Whessoe Philippines Construction Inc., who manages the electromechanical aspects of the dam gate.
This led to another contract to supply a 25 + 25-tonne fixed gantry crane for the lifting and lowering of the canal outlet gate.
MHE-Demag’s innovative project solutions, rapid delivery times, strong local presence in the Philippines and commitment to safety have enabled it to impress not just one but two customers in a single project!
