Hyundai selects local firm
Hyundai Corporation, the South Korean diversified conglomerate, is branching out into Thailand's competitive air-conditioner market.
Jebsen & Jessen Marketing (Thailand) Ltd has been appointed the local distributor of Hyundai air conditioners. The products will be available in the market this month.
Adisak Thiaphairat, the division manager for air-conditioning products at Jebsen & Jessen, said the company was selected because of its experience in distributing air conditioners in the Thai market for over a decade.
Jebsen & Jessen plans to spend 40 million baht to promote the products and provide after-sale services. It aims for a 5% market share in the first year by selling 45,000 to 50,000 air conditioners for 700-800 million baht in 2012.
Mr Adisak said demand for air conditioners was expected to grow at least 15-20% next year.
